The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is planning to reconstruct the worst section of 16th Avenue SW this summer. This project is part of the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters.
This project will involve reconstruction and minor widening of the roadway on 16th Avenue SW between SW Findlay Street and SW Brandon Street.
Work includes:
- roadway pavement removal and replacement
- drainage improvements including new curb and gutters
- sidewalk repaving on the west side of the street
- rebuilding concrete driveway aprons to match the new road
Construction work is currently scheduled to begin as early as the week of July 20th and continue for approximately six weeks to eight weeks.
Northbound Traffic Detour
During construction, northbound traffic will be detoured via SW Austin Street / Dumar Way SW / SW Orchard Street and Delridge Way SW. Northbound Metro bus service will be provided as far north as South Seattle Community College, then detoured. Detour signs will be posted.
Southbound traffic will be maintained.
