Over two thousand people are expected to turn out for the annual Pike Place Market Barbecue Competition on Sunday, April 5. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., several streets will be closed to accommodate the event crowd: Pike Place from Pike Street to Virginia Street, and Stewart Street and Pine Street between First Avenue and Pike Place. The Seattle Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect congestion on streets surrounding the market and encourages event-goers to consider other modes of travel such as walking, cycling or taking the bus.
