SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening in the city that may affect traffic. Seafair Weekend: Fleet Week on the Seattle waterfront Wednesday through Sunday and hydro races off Genesee Park, Friday through Sunday. The Washington State Department of Transportation will intermittently close the I-90 bridge when the Blue Angels fly, Thursday through Sunday. There are also neighborhood festivals in Magnolia, Lake City and the Central District.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 1:
5th Annual Belltown Bash: Neighborhood block party will close Bell St between 5th Ave and 4th Ave from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. About 515 people are expected to attend.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 6:
Seafair Fleet Week & Boeing Maritime Celebration: Featuring Parade of Ships in Elliot Bay along Seattle’s waterfront. Public ship tours at Piers 66, 69 and 90.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 3 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 6:
Seattle Art Fair at CenturyLink Field Event Center. Thursday preview hours are 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Public hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 4 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 6:
Seafair Weekend Festival at Genesee Park, Stan Sayers Park, and along Lake Washington Blvd. The I-90 bridge will be closed intermittently between Mercer Island and I-5 when the Blue Angels are flying. About 20,000 people are expected to attend each day.
Magnolia Summerfest at Magnolia Playfield. Festival hours are 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. About 4,600 people are expected to attend.
Umoja Fest Africatown Heritage Festival at Judkins Park and Sam Smith Park. About 500 people are expected to attend each day.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 5:
Umoja Fest Africatown Parade: Starts at 1 p.m. along 23rd Ave from E Union St to Judkins Park. About 1,000 people are expected to attend.
Magnolia Summerfest Seafair Parade and Kid’s Parade: Annual parade in Magnolia at 10 a.m. on 34th Ave W and W Barrett St, south to W McGraw St, and east to 32nd Ave W. About 4,500 people are expected to attend.
South Lake Union Saturday Market: from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 9th Ave N between Denny Way and John St. About 1,000 people are expected to attend.
Farewell Forge, Bye Bye Baby: Event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. will close Bell St between 3rd Ave and 2nd Ave. About 1,500 people are expected to attend.
Lake City Seafair Parade: Parade route heads south on Lake City Way NE from NE 135th St to NE 123rd St. Kid’s parade at 6 p.m., dog parade at 6:30 p.m., and Grand Parade at 7 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.
Greatest Party Ever Known to Humankind will close Airport Way between S. Corson St. and 13th Ave S from 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 5th to 3 a.m. on Sunday, August 6th.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 5 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 6:
SalmonFest Seattle: Event in Lake City will close 28th Ave NE between NE 125th St and NE 127th St from 6 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday. Event hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. About 4,000 people are expected to attend.
Madame Butterfly at McCaw Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. About 2,900 people are expected to attend each day.
