SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening in the city that may affect traffic. The Northwest Folklife Festival runs Friday through Monday. The Seattle Sounders play at CenturyLink Field on Saturday afternoon. The Emerald Bike Ride will use the I-5 Express Lanes, eastbound SR 520 and the I-90 Express Lanes on Sunday morning.
FRIDAY, MAY 26 – MONDAY, MAY 29:
Northwest Folklife Festival: 46th annual arts and culture festival at Seattle Center. Production vehicles will stage on streets adjacent to Seattle Center from May 23 through May 31. Daily, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. About 50,000 people a day are expected to attend.
SATURDAY, MAY 27:
Seattle Sounders FC vs. Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field at 12 p.m. About 45,000 people are expected to attend.
SUNDAY, MAY 28:
Emerald Bike Ride: A Cascade Bicycle Club 11-mile (or 25-mile) bike ride that will start and finish in downtown Seattle that will use the I-5 Express Lanes, eastbound State Route 520 bridge and I-90 Express Lanes bridge. The I-5 Express Lanes will be closed until 10:30 a.m., EB SR 520 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the I-90 Express Lanes will be closed from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. About 12,000 people are expected to participate.
MONDAY, MAY 29:
Homeless Veterans Day Celebration: Honoring veterans with presentations, music and meals. S Main St between Alaskan Way and 1st Ave S will be closed between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. About 940 people are expected to attend.
Seattle vs. New York, Friday, May 26th at 7 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.
Seattle vs. Indiana, Sunday, May 28th at 4 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.
