SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city through the weekend that will affect area traffic. On Saturday there are SR 520 Bridge grand opening events and a fun run/walk that will close WSDOT’s Montlake Bridge in the morning. Seattle Sounders FC is playing on Saturday night at CenturyLink Field. There are bike ride events on Sunday morning on the SR 520 bridge that extend on to city streets.
SATURDAY, APRIL 2nd:
Go Long SR 520 Floating Bridge Grand Opening 10k Run/Walk: The first to set foot on the new bridge will be nearly 10,000 participants in a 10K fun run and walk at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. The course begins at Husky Stadium, crosses the new bridge to Medina, and then returns to the stadium. The ribbon cutting ceremony is at 10:30 a.m., there are bridge tours and activities until 5 p.m. The Montlake Bridge (SR 513) will be closed to traffic between 6:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. for the run with about 8,000 people expected to participate. About 50,000 people are expected to visit through the day.
SOUNDERS AT CENTURYLINK FIELD:
Sounders vs. Montreal Impact match is Saturday, April 2nd at 7 p.m. About 40,000 people are expected to attend.
SUNDAY, APRIL 3rd:
Emerald City Bike Ride: There is an 8-mile bicycle ride across the new SR 520 bridge and back. There is also a 21-mile ride across the bridge that continues along the I-5 Express lanes, through the International District and returns to the Husky Stadium parking lot via Lake Washington Boulevard. The ride starts at 6:45 a.m. and finishes at 12:30 p.m. with a festival until 2:00 p.m. The northbound lanes of the Montlake Bridge will be closed between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30a.m. About 6,000 people are expected to participate.
