Weekend traffic, Aug. 15-17:
Expect congestion near Myrtle Edwards Park this weekend

This weekend’s two biggest traffic generators will be the Seattle Hempfest and the Seahawks game, both likely to draw large crowds. The Seahawks vs San Diego Chargers game is on Friday night, and the Hempfest is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you plan to be in the vicinity of either, allow plenty of time for heavy traffic.

If you are going to one of these two big events, the websites for both provide tips on ways to get there other than by car. The Hempfest website recommends arriving by bike. The Seahawks website lists Light Link Rail, the Sounder, shuttle buses, regular Metro buses and Amtrak as some of the possibilities.

The Rainier Summer Streets and Rainier Valley Heritage Parade will have people celebrating in the street on Saturday afternoon. The Iron Girl Triathlon at Genesee Park on Sunday morning will be another popular Southeast Seattle destination this weekend. Light Rail, bus, bike or walking will be good ways to get around in this part of town.
