Next Three Days: Three Races, Three Women’s Sports Events + More

If races are your thing, you can take in one a day Friday through Sunday! On Friday, evening there’s the popular Fremont 5K and Briefcase Relay; on Saturday cyclists will race in a rectangle just off of Market Street in the heart of Ballard; and on Sunday morning 2,900 participants will pound along Lake Washington Boulevard in the Shore Run and Walk benefitting Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research. At the Seattle Center there’s no shortage of arts and cultural events with Pacific Northwest Ballet performances of Giselle and the Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival. Plus, it’s a great weekend at the Center for women’s sports with the Seattle Storm taking on the Minnesota Lynx, the Seattle Reign versus the Chicago Red Stars, and the Rat City Rollergirls against the Silicon Valley and Jet City teams. For details about these events, please see the schedule below.

Motorists should plan ahead to avoid delays associated with the events, but are encouraged to help reduce air pollution by parking the car at home and trying one of the many alternate forms of transportation available – Metro Transit, the Sounder, Link light rail, West Seattle Water Taxi, the Seattle Streetcar, the monorail, carpool, bicycle, or even walk – if feasible.
