Weekend Traffic Advisory for June 12-14

Late Friday afternoon, June 12, a fun-loving crowd will get the weekend started with the 25th Annual Fremont 5K Run and Briefcase Relay. On Saturday afternoon, June 13, over 40,000 people will converge at the University of Washington Husky Stadium for the university’s graduation ceremonies. The Seattle Sounders kick off their match with the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night; and on Sunday morning, June 14, throngs of people are expected to flock to the Summer Sundays on Pike Place at the Pike Place Market. Also on Sunday afternoon, Seattle Pacific University students will celebrate graduation at Safeco Field.
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises motorists to pack their patience and plan for delays associated with these activities. SDOT suggests that with the warm summer weather, this might be a great weekend for event-goers to try out traveling by bike, bus, or if feasible, on foot.
